Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Paint Party?

A paint party (or a "social painting event") is a fun and unique opportunity for you to have a social outing while creating a painting from start to finish. It's a super laid back atmosphere where a instructor with The Fearless Painter teaches you step by step how to create a painting that you get to take home with you when you are done! People of any age or skill level can join. These events have become really popular over the past few years and many of our public events take place at local bars, restaurants, and function halls. It's a great way for people to unleash their creativity in a safe and supportive way while enjoying the experience alongside friends and loved ones.

Do I need any artistic experience?

Absolutely not! Whether you are a beginner and have never held a paintbrush in your life, or if you are a fine art veteran and have been painting forever, any skill level is welcomed by The Fearless Painter. Our events are designed to keep your fear at bay! No stress, no judgement! We are more like coaches that are giving you the freedom to be creative. We're not telling you to paint in the lines, and you don’t have to listen to everything we have to say. Art is therapy and this should be your chance to de-stress, unwind, and let your imagination run wild!

What is included in the price?

The Fearless Painter provides all of the art supplies for the paint party which includes the canvases, paints, brushes, easels, aprons, palettes, water cups, napkins, and table coverings. For Private Parties, we will provide the up to 3 hours of instruction (which depends on the painting) for your guests as well as the necessary time to setup the party beforehand and break down the party afterward (usually about 1-2 hours before the party and an hour afterward). You and your guests get to choose beforehand what you’d like to recreate from a library of sample paintings on the website, or work with The Fearless Painter to help come up with an alternate design.

How do tickets work?

For Public Events, you will be able to place your ticket order online through The Fearless Painter website. When you purchase tickets from our website, your name is added to the event guest list and we bring that guest list to the event where we will check you off as paid when you arrive. Just give us your name on the day of the event and we'll mark you off on the guest list. If you ordered multiple tickets for your friends and your friends arrive before you, just have your friends check in under your name and they will be all set! For Private Events, you're welcome to sell your own tickets for the event, or we can assist you in having a private ticket link for your events so that your guests can purchase their tickets in the same way.

How does seating work?

For all of The Fearless Painter parties, seating is on a first come, first served basis. If you would like to sit close with friends, we encourage you to get to the venue as close to the event start time as possible. Events generally start 15 minutes after listed event start time. This way you can secure your seats and paint next to each other. Getting to the event on time is being considerate to all the other guests, and The Fearless Painter appreciates guests following this guideline.

Do you allow 'At the Door' painters?

While The Fearless Painter would discourage this, as some events sell out quickly, we will allow 'At the Door' painters. This is handled on a case-by-case basis, and is contingent on space and material availability. NOTE: 'At the Door' painters must arrive no later than 15 minutes prior to the start of the event, or they will not be allowed to partcipate. All 'At the Door' painters are subject to the full ticket price, and must be paid via Cash or Credit.

What should I wear?

While The Fearless Painter supplies all painters with aprons, it is encouraged that you wear clothing that you wouldn't mind getting paint on. We utilize acrylic, water-based non-toxic paints; and while it makes for easy clean up on hands and skin, it's difficult to remove stains from clothing.

Do you supply food or beverages?

The Fearless Painter does not directly supply any food or beverages; however, we may work with certain venues for the venue to provide food/drinks along with your ticket price. These are specialty events, and if included, will be noted on the event's page. Depending on the location of a Public Events, the host/venue may have options that are available either as a courtesy, or for any additional fee (i.e. if an event is at a restaurant, chances are you can order anything from the menu). When it comes to Private Events, the host gets to determine what, if any, food or beverages are served, or if they'd like to make it a BYOA (Bring Your Own Anything) party! NOTE: If host is serving alcoholic beverages (or allowing a BYOB setup), host is responsible for ensuring that alcohol is not served to any guest under the age of 21.

Are photos taken at events?

Absolutely! That's part of the reason it makes events fun! During both Public and Private events, a representative with The Fearless Painter may be taking photos of the group while everyone is creating their masterpieces. At the end of painting session, we also like to take a group photo to show off everyone's amazing artwork! Typically, after a Public party, we'll upload the photos to our Facebook page within 2-3 days. We encourage all of our guests to take their own photos and videos at the event and share them on social media with the hashtag #FearlessPainter NOTE: If for any reason you do not want to be included in any of the photos that The Fearless Painter takes, please let us know at the start of the event, and we'll do our best to ensure you're either not included, or cropped out of the photos, before we post. We respect your privacy and understand your desire not to be included.

How does setup & clean-up work?

If you're hosting a Private Event (or you're a venue owner allowing The Fearless Painter to provide a Public Event), please plan for The Fearless Painter to arrive 1-2 hours prior to the event start time to setup each painter's work area. The larger the group, the longer it may take to setup. The work areas will include table coverings, setup of the easels, canvas placement, placement of the brushes, setup of palette and water cup. Post event, The Fearless Painter will require approximately an hour to break down and clean-up. This time will be utilized to collect all paint brushes and palettes, break down the easels for storage, dispose of the water cups and table coverings, and finalize clean-up of the event area.

How far does The Fearless Painter travel for events?

Currently, The Fearless Painter works to support all painters within a 50-mile radius of Cross Junction, Virginia. This allows for ample coverage of the Northern Shenandoah Valley, Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia and Western Maryland. If you're concerned if The Fearless Painter will support your location, fill out our Request a Party form, and a representative will get back with you!

Do you offer Fundraiser options?

Some speciality Public Events and FUNdraisers, such as Parent/Child and KIDZ Painting events are open to ages 6 and up. We also offer Toddler Art classes monthly for the tiny tots, which includes dancing, story time and art! Please read the information on each event to confirm the required age group. In these circumstances, we will apply a credit for you to attend a future event with The Fearless Painter. No refunds will be processed. No Show ticket holders will not be issued any credits or refunds.
